Red,

We used our part number “1315″ on the front with dropped coil springs (2″). If you have a factory coil use our part number “1415″ (different lengths). On the rear we used our number 1800 and used some hardware (mounting bolts & nuts, washers) for the rear. That was all done over 10 years ago and nowhere can I find the actual hardware list, but it was common stuff! Sorry, I have looked everywhere and threatened everyone and still no luck!

You can use either drop spindles or Calmax control arms but not the two together. The spindles give you a 2″ drop and you can add 2″ coil springs for a 4″ drop or you can use 2″ or 3″ Calmax control arms with your factory coil for the best ride!

I bought a ’91 S-10 with a V8 conversion that has already been dropped but there’s only about 1″ of suspension travel in the front before it hits the bump stops.

It looks like the A-arms are a good way to go but what springs do you recommend? Or would the spindles be a better bet with the springs that are in the truck now?

Thanks,

Al,

Without knowing what spring is in the front end you might start there. You need more than 1″ inch of travel for a good ride and your coil spring is the biggest contributor to suspension travel. Because your S-10 now has a V-8 all of our calculations concerning ride height are not accurate. For example our 2″ coil spring would give you a 2″ drop with the original 4-cyl engine but might provide a 3″ drop with the additional weight of the V-8. You might have to experiment to find the best coil spring for ride quality and then you can add our spindle for a 2″ additional drop or our Calmax control arm for a additional 3 inches of drop. First get good travel back with a proper coil spring! Let us know what you do!!

I want to lower my 2004 4WD chevy Tahoe with a DJM 3/5 complete lowering kit. Most people say it’s impossible ~ I’ve discussed with custom truck shops and they tell me it is POSSIBLE! Can I order the 3/5 lowering kit or does it have to go through a dealer? I’ve been doing a lot of research regarding the 3/5 drop. I’ve seen the DJM 3/5 Complete Kit for Suburbans, Tahoe’s, and Avalanche’s on the DJMSuspension.com website. Please respond promptly ~ Thank you kindly ~ Todd and Kim

Todd,

Well your research is correct mostly! You can use a 3/5 kit on your 04 4wd Tahoe, however we recommend the 3/3 kit! It is the same kit with a different rear coil spring, the 5″ rear coils for the Suburban just don’t ride worth a darn in the Tahoe. That said it is up to you, we just want to make sure your hip to the ride quality issue! Also the actual difference between the rear coil springs are about an inch of ride height! Here a link to the parts DJM Factory Store

I just installed your drop spindles with 3 inch dropped springs in the front. I also did the rear flip kit for 6.25 inches of drop. I have a 1995 GMC reg cab short bed 2wd. Rides great, but I had to trim the factory lower control arms way too much with the factory 15 inch wheels. If I go up to 18 or 20 inch wheels can I replace the lower control arms “stock ones” with no trimming needed? Thanks

Jason,

The wheel clearance problem your experiencing is usually found with drop spindles and 15″ wheels. However your solution of 18 or 20 inch wheels will give you what you want without hitting your factory wheels!

Kyle,
Sounds like you need a little lubrication! The “creeking and grinding” is probably both dry ball joints and dry pivot bushings. Ball joints that go dry make awful grinding and popping sounds, so get some grease in there and it will become quiet. The pivot bushings are made from urethane, a great durable tuff material that squeaks to high heaven when its dry, or overtightened! I would recommend a teflon grease or “neverseeze” as a good lubricant for the pivot bushings and be-careful not to over tighten them. Anything past snug where there is no slop or lateral movement is to much. Also be sure to use “locktite” on the bolt and nut so you don’t have to worry you haven’t tightened the nut enough!

Gabe,

You have a lot of choices when it comes to lowering your 03 Avalanche from a 2″ Front / 2″ Rear to a 3″ Front / 5″ Rear. The amount that would be best for you is hard for us to say. Click here to see the kit available in the application section at djmsuspension.com

Now you should be a little careful with 24″ wheels, there huge and you might lower to much for them to clear. If you use 22″ wheels you can use any kit and save some money along the way!

Hoolian,

Sounds like an interesting project, send us a picture when your done! We don’t make drop coil springs for your Ranger or any of the I-beam trucks because of the alignment issues with short coils. We build lowered I beams for these trucks that will give you a 3″ drop with the factory spring. Also you can use our flip kit for the rear, however if you use “dragster slicks” you may have to “tub” the bed and make modifications to the rear suspension.
Here is a link to our parts for your Ranger and let us know how it goes!!

I have 2002 ext cad chevy truck with the 2/4 drop with control arms and hangers and shackles. I want to know if can use stock shocks up front with the control arms? next question is my pinion angle is not after the lower kit.I do have a 2 pices drive shaft with relocated carrier bearing but still vibration issue. I checked the drive shaft angle and it is -1 and the dif is +8 so this gives me a +7 on my pinion angle. If put a 6* shim this give me +1 for my new pinion angle. Is this issue with lowering kit?. also is it ok to use the aluminum shims. I here brake after a while is this true? Thanks for the help.

Aaron,

First you can use factory length shocks with the control arms so long as you have not put a shorter spring in. Regarding your vibration problem, tell us when the vibration occurs example at what speed does it happen? Depending on when it happens there are a couple of things to try!
