Replacement Ball Joints

To: DJM Suspension <tech@djmsuspension.com>
Conversation: lower ball joints

I purchased DJM lower control arms five years ago for 02 Silverado now my lower ball joint need to be replaced. Can I replace with factory ball joints or are they special ball joints I need to fit your lower control arms?

Thanks

Joel,

Your right, the ball joints in your DJM arms are not factory. There easier and cheaper to get than that. We used Moog # 6541 which you can get anywhere ball joints are sold. Or you can get them from us: djmfactorystore

If your not sure what the right part number your arms use, go to djmsuspension.com and find your truck, choose the arms you have and get the correct part number

  1. Hello, hopefully this page is still monitored. I have a 2003 Silverado C1500 with upper and lower control arms.

Its been said that the lower Moog ball joint is K6541 yet don’t see the part number for a upper control arm.

Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Toby

  2. For the CA2599L-4 control arms 99-06 Silverado 2wd can I use either K6541 or 6541 are they the same thing? Possibly could I use any balljoint that references with that number mainly looking to see if I can find one that the balljoint boot seals better since the ones now do not. Thank you

    • Shaun,

You are correct! Any ball joint with that number or any crossover to that number from another manufacturer should be good. We get slightly different styles some times from the same supplier! Now having said that, you should still give a good visual inspection and compare before you walk out the door to make sure your not disappointed when you get home! Good Luck!!

    • Mike,

The MOOG part number is 6541 or K6541, you should be able to get them at a local hard parts store (like NAPA).

    • Eddie,

You can get replacement ball-joints at a NAPA store or any automotive hard parts supplier. The MOOG replacement part number is K-6541, this number can be cross referenced by any good parts store to get you the correct ball joint!

        DO NOT

ask for a replacement part for your truck, use the part number only, it will save you time and frustration. If all fails you can buy them here!

    • Jesse,

The ball joint part numbers are as follows – lower arms #6541, upper arms #6124. These are moog part numbers that any automotive supply should either have or convert to their ball joint source. Or you can buy them at the DJM Factory Store
